Great Southern Supreme Merino, Canberra 2013

This year had great success in the August shorn section at the resent GSSM show at Canberra on the 19th and 20th of January. LD-0075 caught the judges eyes recieving champion August shorn medium wool ram and overall champion August shorn ram of the show. 


Other major highlights included winning the August shorn group of three rams and two ewes for the 3rd year in a row and recieving Reserve Champion in the August shorn medium wool ewe.


Overall a very successful show for Langdene.

We had a great result in the showring at this year's Great Southern Supreme Merino (GSSM) Show, held in Canberra on January 21 and 22.

Results included:

Langdene's Dubbo National BLITZ

Langdene enjoyed a fantastic 2011 Dubbo National in late-August. We were the most successful exhibitor of the event and our top show successes included: 

* Elders City of Dubbo Group - for the second consecutive year

* Champion Medium Wool Ram (August shorn)

* Champion Fine/Medium Wool Ewe (August shorn)

* Champion Fine Wool Ram (March shorn)

* Champion Fine/Medium Wool Ram Sale Ram

* Runner-up Elders Pen 3 sale rams
* Reserve Champion medium wool sale ram
* Reserve Champion medium wool ewe (August shorn)

In the wool section, Langdene won Champion housed medium wool ewe fleece. The fleece is from a ewe from the winning 2010 Elders City of Dubbo Breeders Group. The ewe is sired by LD4530. The fleece also won Supreme fleece at Dunedoo and Dubbo Shows.

At the Dubbo National sale, we sold all seven of our rams for a top of $14,000 and average of $7786. Thanks to all buyers and underbidders.

Langdene wins Pen of Five Rams (Long Wool) at Hamilton

Langdene enjoyed a successful exhibition at Hamilton Sheepvention, VIC, in early August. We were rapt to win the open class 'Pen of Five Rams - Long Wool' section'.

In the sale, the top-priced ram, LD090093, - with 15.5 micron - sold to a Tasmanian stud for the equal second top-price of $7,000. His sire was Champion Sale ram at Dubbo National 2009, which sold to Walwa Stud, Gunning, NSW.

Also two sons of the Australian Supreme sold for $6,000 and $2,500, and another, a son of LD4530 sold for $4,500. Langdene achieved the second highest average of $4,800. All 5 rams were sold to stud or for ram breeding programs.
