Langdene Genetics Rein Supreme at Bendigo

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

As another Australian Sheep & Wool Show in Bendigo drew to a close, we were thrilled to see Grathlyn Merino Stud claim the "Supreme Sheep" of the Show and the sale top price of $25,000.   This magnificent Super Fine Ram was sired by Langdene's 2009 Australian Supreme Ram (LD07-4073).

To sweeten their success, Grathlyn also secured the Grand Champion Ultra Fine Ram award, with a full brother to their Supreme exhibit.

Congratulations also to Nerstane Merino Stud who were awarded Champion Fine/Medium Wool Ram of the Show.  This ram was also sired by LD07-4073.

We look forward to seeing this ram in Sydney in 2015 as he is a March Shorn Ram.

We also congratulate Grassy Creek Merino Stud for claiming the Champion Fine Wool All Purpose Ram.  This exceptionally well grown Ram was sired by LD11-0075.

It was also very satisfying to see commercial wool growers, Ken & Eleanor Brown of "Westwood", Gravesend, enter fleeces for the first time in the Australian Fleece Competition at Bendigo.  One of their ewe fleeces was successful in gaining First Place in the Medium Wool Section, from 26 entries.  The fleece weighed 7.6Kgs skirted, which was the heaviest in its class and also had the highest commercial value of $70.99, its nearest competitor reaching $63.94.
